                         Cheryl and Rick's story is one of "Chaos to Commitment!" It is about transitioning
      from "Music to Message," from "Craziness to Christianity," from "Hell to Heaven."  Both of
      them have always been diligently working to have "Better Lives." They both were taught
      things like "He Who Dies With The Most Toys Wins!" With success came excess, with fame
      came fear; the fear of losing what they had. With this fear came abuse, adultery and alcohol.
           When Rick's records fell off the charts, so did his emotions. He went into depression.
     He then turned to self-help books. He found information and inspiration in books like, "The 
     Power of Positive Thinking," "The Be-Happy Attitudes," "Love Is Letting Go Of Fear," "The
     Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People, "How To Win Friends And Influence People" and the
     "Bible" to name a few.
           He was so enlighted by this profound knowledge that he began teaching it to anyone
     he met. He was then invited to teach what he had learned at school assemblies. This led
     to opportunities in corporations as well as other organizations.
           Then the day came when he was asked to be a Worship Leader and a Youth Pastor in
     a local church. Later on he took on the position of being an Associate Pastor at another
     church. After several visits to Florida, Rick and Cheryl knew that one day they would move.
            After relocating to the Sunshine State, Rick took on numerous positions at different churches.
     Then one day he got an offer to speak at over 40 schools. This began a ten year career in the
    school-assembly business. It was a wonderful learning and lucrative experience for both of them.
     But they both knew that God had something bigger and better for both of them. Then it happened...
              
         God called Rick and Cheryl to start their own church. That was five years ago. They 
     wanted a church that would be "an oasis of love" for all people. They held their first
     service in a clubhouse at an apartment building in Champions Gate, Florida. Thirty
     people showed up. It was called "GracePlace."
         After attending a "How To" church conference, they changed direction and the 
     name. They were now a high-energy, flashing-light, loud-rocking church geared
     for the younger generation. The church was called "Church On The Edge." They met
     in a movie theater at the Loop in Hunters Creek. They grew to over a hundred
     people.
         With the crash of the economy, they found that people were looking more for
     RELAXED than rocking, more for SINCERITY than show, more for PRACTICAL than
                                                   performance.

        After much fervent prayer, Better Life Community Church was born. A place
where the focus would be on God and People. An environment where everyone would
learn about a loving God that helps us in our daily lives. A non-judgmental atmosphere
where people of all backgrounds would come together with the goal of learning about
God and learning how to love each other; in other words, be more like Jesus.
